  • It's official – the initiative has begun to establish Fayetteville, Ark., as an WHO Age Friendly City. This movement is a collaboration between the city of Fayetteville, the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and the University of Arkansas. The purpose of the initiative is to use the World Health Organization Age-Friendly Cities model as a strategy to establish Fayetteville, Ark., as an age-friendly city. So...what is Age Friendly? According to the World Health Organization, Age Friendly is ...an inclusive and accessible urban environment that promotes active aging" [by targeting] "environmental, social and economic factors that influence the health and well-being of older adults" [in the community].  http://agefriendlyfayetteville.uark.edu/
